I saw this on the general 'save our schools' page on facebook today.  This is what Central New Brighton have heard, but we have had no more news from our principal as yet.  CNB is in our cluster, though, so hopefully we get a similar timeframe to respond.  I will keep things updated as they happen.

"We have received a letter of confirmation from the Ministry of Education that CNB will definitely remain open for the next 3 years.
We have entered into a formal consultation process now. If the merger takes place it will occur at the beginning of 2016.
This is great news for us....thank you for your support and PLEASE continue with your feedback."

Oh that is potentially promising news!

*crosses fingers that your school gets at least that same time frame or longer*

Yes! We're the same! 'Consultation' is still a bit meager time-wise, but we have until December 7th to respond to the proposal so that's a bit better than 28 days. Still not long and still heaps of work to be done.

Oh yay! That's great news. Definitely more time to get everyone involved though and that's really what you need.

I had a thought earlier. If they insist upon the merger is there anyway that Freeville could go private or something so that it could stay open?

I don't really know. Those are all questions people are asking so hopefully they will be put to the board for consideration. I think the big thing now is to a) make sure we know the state of the land and b) show why we're viable even with the stronger foundations required.

I think that's a good approach. I do hope it works out! *hugs*
